Process design and optimization

Progress S.r.l. offers services of technical consulting for the design, management, optimization and test of industrial processes, specifically with the aim of limiting the production and the emission of odorous compounds. In fact we think that, in order to reduce the odour impact of a production process, it is necessary to first optimize the process (if this is technically feasible and economically advantageous), and only secondly to optimize the efficiency of the odour abatement systems. Progress technical staff is qualified for this task as:

• It has a high technical and scientific formation, specifically in chemical or environmental engineering;
• It keeps continuous collaboration relationship with the teaching staff and the researchers o the Department of Chemistry, Materials and Chemical Engineering "Giulio Natta" of the Politecnico di Milano;
• It has gained a long experience "on field" and it had the possibility of experimentally verifying the most suitable solutions in order to achieve the reduction of the odour impact in a wide variety of practical cases; moreover, this experience enables the rapid identification of the root of the problem.

Design and optimization of abatement systems

Progress S.r.l. has the competence and the experience for the design and the optimization of systems for the abatement of emissions, and specifically of odours.
Progress S.r.l. offers to its customers, besides its specific competence in chemical engineering, its whole experience gained in this years in the filed of odour abatement. For example, experience has taught us that if it is absolutely untrue that when a specific compound is abated, then also odour is abated. In order to choose and correctly dimension an odour abatement system it is necessary to dispose of suitable data regarding the characteristics of the emission (determined experimentally o derived from the literature or from the database of Progress S.r.l.).
Moreover, in these years, we had the possibility of monitoring hundreds of odour abatement systems, from different producers and with different technologies. We measured the real efficiency of each system. These whole of precious information certainly helps in the choice of the best producer and technology.
Finally, we are able to give the right importance to the maintenance and the management of an abatement system: we know the precautions that are necessary in order to maintain the efficiency of an abatement system constant, and we know how to evaluate the weight of the management costs since the design phase.

Technical consulting for environmental license applications

The procedure for environmental licensing isn't a mere bureaucratic route. On the contrary, the application for environmental license (ex DPR 203/88, D.Lgs. no. 59/05 - IPPC, D.Lgs. 22/97, etc.) must be drawn up by technicians who, on one hand must be competent in the field of pollution and environmental protection and, on the other hand, must have the necessary knowledge of environmental regulation.
Progress S.r.l. has integrally followed the authorization procedure of different plants, especially in cases characterized by odour pollution problems, in different Italian regions.

Technical expertises in civil suits and penal cases

Thanks to olfactometry and to Progress S.r.l. as well, odour is now considered a form of pollution, also at the regulatory level. The staff of Progress S.r.l. has already worked as technical consultants for the judge or for the Public Prosecutor in civil suits regarding odour pollution.
For example, we dealt with odour pollution caused by waste treatment plants and composting plants, restaurants, sugar refineries and zootechnic farms.
We can also make use of the help of lawyers with a specific preparation and experience about odour pollution.

Legal consulting and tutelage

Progress S.r.l. offers the possibility of making use of the help of professionals with a high specialization in the tutelage of firms operating in the sector of waste recovery, treatment or disposal, and of landfill management, or in the sectors of rendering, metallurgic, restoration and paint treatment.
Specific competences are offered for the resolution of problems relevant to air, water, soil and subsoil pollution or to acoustic and electromagnetic pollution
Through Progress S.r.l. lawyers support the customer in any debate with the Public Administration regarding the concession or the renewal of environmental certifications or licenses. Moreover, they offer consulting services and assistance in the start off and management of the procedures for the reclamation of polluted sites, in the stipule of environmental claims in sale contracts and, in the real estate, they carry out complete environmental due diligence both of the juridical profiles and the technical aspects, in collaboration and concretely with Progress S.r.l..
The legal assistance and the consulting service relevant to the environmental regulation and the penal consequences originated by industrial activity extends to the technical defence in penal processes as far as concerns environmental crimes and offences committed by managers of corporations and other collective bodies having a legal status.
